VK Direct was started in 2020 amid the COVID-19 Pandemic to fill a gap in the local supply of specialised electronic components for the DIY MMDVM hotspot builders.

VK Direct’s founder, Lee is an avid electronics enthusiast.

Fast forward to 2025 VK4NGA Digital Voice Systems and VK Direct have now merged. We have now added many more products to our range.

Lee’s father, Glenn, VK4NGA started his business – VK4NGA Digital Voice Systems in 2019.

Glenn was first licensed in 1979 as VK4NTR. Active until 1983, took long break from the hobby returning in 2015 with call sign VK4NGA. He also holds the call signs VK4DMR & VK4GWY.

In November 2017 Glenn bought his first digital radio (Icom ID-4100 D-Star) and started playing with digital voice, which he really enjoys as you’ll always find a station to chat to on the digital modes.

Glenn’s shack is mostly digital modes, now running Allstar, DMR – multiple networks, YSF, D-Star and P25 modes.

Glenn’s usually listening on most of the popular nodes/hubs/talk groups/rooms and reflectors.
